Poem 1207

On the mirror
how the blow fly buzzes
the cat’s yawn.

Cafe’ mirror
the blonde sipping quietly
under her red sun hat.

In the mirror
I feel the weight
of the grandchild’s smile.

Lake mirror
a cloud crawls over
the sand below.

Birthday dress
in the mirror
she spins herself between us.

Red silk kimono
laying by the river
beside her.

A sultry night
the house key hangs
where her kimono would.

Zen garden
wrapped in autumn
her gold silk kimono.

A cool winding road
you drive between peach orchards
with their ripe fruit airs.

Dawn opens
the faintest sweep of willows
over the river mud.
