Poem 2108

well water
never able to ebb
with the pull of the moon.

river narrows
the force of a cloud burst
white with boulders.

losing the sunset
still the fragrance
of the frangipani.

moon glow
with Venus nearby
guiding the lover’s touch.

Turning in bed
her pregnancy
between us.

Sailing solo
a need for all those stars
to leave me alone.

Asleep in the boat
between the islands
of tide and moon.

Sailing home
in the faint mist
every harbour light.

Fishing fleet
into the sleep
of home port.

Mediterranean cruise
the whimsy of the water spout
to turn away south.
