the deer becomes lost
in rifle sights

soft lit dinner
desires rubbing
his wine glass

chicken coop
the fox’s eye split
between leaves

down-pipe rains
the plants carried away
I never could name

hearing less
the dance floor rhythms
in the music

Tango in lights
coming from opposites
we touch-release-touch and sway

hearing less
her maze of opinions
about the house

my hearing
in the bleats of spring lambs
midday showers

drought’s end
sounds of the river
melting its dust

fog-light bridge
the ghosts of house boats
with the lives concealed
