sunset sinks
seedlings still answer
to earth

night drizzles
still to rise to the light
to fall again

strange dream…
still time
to dawn songs

a crescent moon
still upright
to the sea

first light
over the river stones
a canoe— loose

afternoon winds
the mother’s kittens
ambushing leaves

crows swear in long oaths
hills rivulet the storms out
and dawn becomes light

tropic isle
I cannot know
which seeds may copy

watered
under the dog’s tail
park saplings

against the wind
her kimono’s
autumn leaves
