bees fly pollen
to the tomatoes

snow gentle falls
‘The where am I beauty’
of overnight

a calf falls
breaths of a chill wind
drying the blood

crows nesting
the scatter of wreaths
around her headstone

one kid
after the other’s laugh
mushroom search

my boots in snow
a mountainous
wolf’s howl

a see-breath forest
the baying
passes between wolves

wolf howls
each new pup
drooling a mouth to feed

six month winters
hunger biting their tongues
brings the baying of wolves running

I savaged the river
till my end of days
