Whale family
between oceans
in the ice of the world.

Coffee on deck …
dolphins surfing
the bright sunshine.

The whale dives …
a silence descends
between us.

Sunset isle
palms wave
the gull’s goodbye.

Surf breaks
stretching for a gold bottle top
the tumbled boy.

Whales around us …
along repeated highways
migrating south.

Port customs
shadows of us shuffling
along the wharf.

Becoming waves
my reasons
to be buried at sea.

On the pacific cruise
almost standing
a backbone of islands.
