her web in the sun.

Railway cross-road
the quiet grazing
of the stockman’s cattle.

Sudden noise in the wind
the start of a dream
I’ll never see finished.

Pond reeds
through the half slanting sun
a dragonfly race.

Naked flame-trees
the park’s ankle-deep leaves
rustle and gather.

Earth birth
the dewy lawn thrusts
her mushrooms out.

Dawn spreads
gulls manning
the beached canoe.

River crossing
still on the edge
the brumby’s nerves.

Edge of the cliff
no moonlight
to the touch of a web.
