Girl’s night out
our lay-in morning
with her wine and smoky breath.

Lily pad
in the frog’s eye
the dragonfly’s measure.

Exercise gym
all his hard work
stretching tattoos.

His office
next to the water-cooler
she smooths her skirt.

River walk
thrashing to the middle
the dog finds his stick.

Grandmother talking softly
her tea-pot’s coloured
old and knitted cosy.

Shopping with mum
one last tiny sulk
outside the pet-shop window.

Ending my apology
the fountain pen blobs
her photo facing me.

Fast but
tarantula just missing
the monarch’s escape.

Train window
the way the single mother
keeps biting her nails.
