in river vicious kills
of its own kind

school break
a rest from the leaps
we left in the river

open tent
light of dawn
the magpie’s worm pulls back

the leaves the rain puddle
takes from the wind

changing the wind
a taint of rain

rushing to darkness
autumn showers

a curtain of rain
moves in the forest

magpies in the Gum trees
a song at a time

some of the bird songs
